Email Templates

MailTrixy ships with 52 professionally designed, fully responsive email templates and a powerful block-based drag-and-drop builder for creating custom templates. Templates can be used in campaigns, workflow automation emails, and one-to-one compose.

52 Built-In Templates

Every MailTrixy workspace includes 52 pre-designed email templates that are ready to use immediately. These templates have been tested across 30+ email clients (Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, Yahoo, Thunderbird, Samsung Mail, and more) to ensure consistent rendering.

All built-in templates are fully responsive with optimized layouts for desktop (600px width), tablet, and mobile devices. They use web-safe fonts with fallback stacks, inline CSS for maximum compatibility, and accessible color contrast ratios.

Block-Based Drag-and-Drop Builder

The template builder provides a visual editing experience where you construct emails by arranging content blocks on a canvas:

  • Canvas Area: The center of the builder displays a live preview of your email at 600px width (the standard email width). Click any block to select and edit it.
  • Block Sidebar: The left panel lists all available block types. Drag a block from the sidebar and drop it onto the canvas at the desired position. A blue insertion line shows where the block will be placed.
  • Properties Panel: The right panel shows the properties of the selected block. Edit content, styling, links, and layout options here.
  • Reordering: Drag blocks up or down within the canvas to reorder them. Blocks snap to position with smooth animations.
  • Duplication: Click the duplicate icon on any block to create a copy directly below it.
  • Deletion: Click the trash icon to remove a block. An undo toast appears for 5 seconds to reverse the deletion.

Template Blocks

The following block types are available in the builder:

Content Blocks

  • Header Block: A pre-styled header area with your logo, optional navigation links, and background color. Logo is auto-populated from workspace settings but can be overridden per template.
  • Text Block: Rich text content with full formatting options: bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, headings (H1-H4), bullet lists, numbered lists, links, and text alignment. Supports inline merge variables.
  • Image Block: Upload an image or paste a URL. Options include alt text, link URL, alignment (left, center, right, full width), border radius, and padding. Images are automatically optimized for email (max 600px width, compressed to keep file size low).
  • Button Block: A call-to-action button with customizable text, URL, background color, text color, border radius, padding, font size, and alignment. Buttons are rendered as bulletproof HTML buttons (using VML for Outlook compatibility).
  • Columns Block: Create multi-column layouts (2, 3, or 4 columns). Each column is an independent container that can hold any other block type. Columns stack vertically on mobile devices automatically.
  • Divider Block: A horizontal line separator with configurable color, thickness, width percentage, and padding.
  • Spacer Block: Empty vertical space with configurable height (10px to 100px). Useful for adding breathing room between sections.
  • Footer Block: A pre-styled footer area with workspace address (required for CAN-SPAM compliance), unsubscribe link (auto-inserted), social media icons, and copyright text.
  • Social Links Block: A row of social media icons linking to your profiles. Supports Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, TikTok, and custom URLs. Multiple icon style options (colored, monochrome, outlined).

Advanced Blocks

  • HTML Block: Embed raw HTML code for custom elements not covered by other blocks. A code editor with syntax highlighting is provided.
  • Video Block: Embed a video thumbnail with a play button overlay that links to the video URL (YouTube, Vimeo, or custom). Since most email clients do not support embedded video, this renders as a clickable thumbnail image.
  • Menu Block: A horizontal navigation menu with customizable links and styling. Useful for product categories or content sections.

Personalization Variables

Insert dynamic content into your templates using merge variables. When the email is sent, variables are replaced with the recipient's actual data:

Variable Description Example Output
{first_name}Contact's first nameSarah
{last_name}Contact's last nameJohnson
{full_name}First and last name combinedSarah Johnson
{email}Contact's email addresssarah@example.com
{company}Contact's company nameAcme Corp
{job_title}Contact's job titleMarketing Director
{phone}Contact's phone number+1 555-0123
{city}Contact's citySan Francisco
{country}Contact's countryUnited States
{custom.field_key}Any custom field value(varies)
{unsubscribe_url}Unsubscribe link URL(auto-generated)
{workspace_name}Your workspace nameAcme Marketing
{current_date}Today's dateMarch 25, 2026
{sender_name}Sender's display nameJohn from Acme

Fallback Values

Variables support fallback values for cases where the contact's data is missing. Use the pipe syntax: {first_name|there} renders as "there" if the first name is empty. This ensures your emails never show blank merge fields.

Custom Template Creation

Create your own templates from scratch or by modifying a built-in template:

  1. Navigate to Templates > Create Template.
  2. Choose a starting point: blank canvas, duplicate an existing template, or import HTML.
  3. Give your template a name and select a category for organization.
  4. Build your email using the drag-and-drop builder or paste HTML directly.
  5. Preview across desktop, tablet, and mobile viewports.
  6. Send a test email to yourself or team members to verify rendering.
  7. Save the template. It appears in your template library and is available for selection in campaigns and workflows.

Template Management

  • Folders: Organize templates into folders and subfolders for easy access.
  • Favorites: Star frequently used templates for quick access.
  • Versioning: Each save creates a new version. Revert to any previous version from the template history.
  • Sharing: Templates are workspace-wide by default. All team members can use and edit any template. Lock a template to prevent edits by non-admins.
  • Export/Import: Export templates as HTML files. Import HTML templates from other tools or third-party sources.

Email Client Compatibility

MailTrixy templates are engineered for broad email client compatibility. The builder generates HTML that follows these best practices:

  • Table-based layout for consistent rendering across all clients.
  • Inline CSS styles (CSS inliner runs automatically on send).
  • VML fallbacks for rounded corners and buttons in Outlook.
  • Conditional comments for Outlook-specific code paths (<!--[if mso]>).
  • Web-safe font stacks with system font fallbacks.
  • Alt text on all images for accessibility and image-blocked clients.
  • Preheader text support (hidden preview text that appears in inbox previews).
  • Dark mode optimized with @media (prefers-color-scheme: dark) overrides where supported.
